EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

At DPS, we do not prepare students for something. Our job is to help students prepare themselves for everything. This is easily achieved through all the Extra Curricular Activities.

DANCE :

Dance is a performing art form consisting of purposefully selected sequences of human movement. This movement has aesthetic and symbolic value, and is acknowledged as dance by performers and observers within a particular culture.

MUSIC :

Music is found in every known society, past and present, and is considered to be a cultural universal.

TAEKWONDO:

Taekwondo (also known as Tae Kwon Do) is the art of self defence that originated in Korea. It is recognized as one of the oldest forms of martial arts in the world, reaching back over 2,000 years. The name was selected for its appropriate description of the art: Tae (foot), Kwon (hand), Do (art).

ARTS AND CRAFT:

Arts and craft activities help instil a sense of achievement and pride in children, boosting their self-confidence. The opportunity to create whatever a child desires helps foster creativity.
A child will learn to make correct and effective decisions by facing and solving artistic challenges.

SPLASH POOL:

A splash pad or spray pool is a recreation area, often in a public park, for water play that has little or no standing water. This is said to eliminate the need for lifeguards or other supervision, as there is little risk of drowning.

MONTESSORI CLASSROOM:

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offers age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.

The Prepared Environment of a Primary Montessori classroom revolves around tangible experiences. It is designed to stimulate each child’s curiosity and instil a lifelong love of learning.
Children work at their own pace and choose their own activities. Activities are thoughtfully designed to encourage hand movements from left to right (to prepare the brain for how we read) or top to bottom (to prepare the brain for how we solve math equations).
